School Security
..."Pupils say that they feel safe and well looked after in school"... Ofsted 2013
The security and safety of all pupils and staff at Thurstonland First School is treated as a priority and is continuously monitored and reviewed.
The main school entrance has a video door entry system which is operated by the office staff. All visitors to the school must sign in to the visitors book in the school office and if appropriate will be given a visitors security badge to wear. DBS checks are carried out by the school for any person who is a member of permanent or temporary staff or for people who volunteer to help at the school. All approved contractors who carry out repair and maintenance work at the school hold a DBS check.
If a pupil has to be collected during the school day, for example: to attend a dental appointment, this must first be notified to the Head Teacher who will advise the class teacher. Upon arrival at school please report to the school office via the main school entrance. The pupil will be collected from their class and must be signed out/in by a member of the office staff.
